One of the reasons for the low number of LIFE project proposals is also unfamiliarity with the LIFE programme. That is why the LIFE CB SI project team decided to organize informative workshops for different target audiences, where participants will receive relevant basic information about LIFE programme and had the opportunity to consult their ideas with us.

First workshop was organized for local communities and took place on 10th November 2016 in Ljubljana. The event attended 44 representatives of municipalities, various utilities, and development agencies from all over Slovenia. After introductory speeches given by Tanja Bolte, Director General of Environment Directorate, and Julijana Lebez Lozej, project leader of project LIFE Capacity Building Slovenia, we presented the LIFE programme focusing on the intersection of national and local priorities with the priorities of the LIFE programme. For insight into LIFE projects two beneficiaries shared their experience with the project implementation. The ROD agency for Development Ajdovščina presented their project LIFE ViVaCCAdapt – Adapting to the impacts of climate change in the Vipava Valley, in which the associated beneficiary is Municipality of Ajdovščina. The second project presented comes from Italy. Representative of the City of Turin presented their LIFE project LIFE SAM4CP – Soil administration model for community profit, which is addressing the problem of poor land-use planning resulting in loss of ecosystem services. After the break we performed a practical exercise enabling the participants to exchange and develop project ideas in smaller.

The programme of the workshop along with the presentations is available on our website (in Slovene).
