On Friday, 16th September 2016, at 10 am, Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning invites you to the showcase event with a press conference. The event, that will take place at the Slovenian Forestry Institute, is organized in the framework of project LIFE Capacity Building Slovenia, and will be attended by the Minister Irena Majcen. Slovenia has high quality projects within the framework of the EU LIFE program and the aim of the Ministry is as well to encourage more applications for grants from European funds.
Minister of the Environment and Spatial Planning Irena Majcen and Head of project LIFE Capacity building Slovenia, MSc. Juliana Lebez Lozej, will address the participants of the event. Furthermore, successful stories of Slovenian projects, previously financed under the LIFE programme, will be presented. Since 1993, Slovenia had 42 projects co-financed by LIFE programme, of which 13 are ongoing. These projects address environmental and nature conservation problems, this year joined them the first capacity building project and climate action project.
The projects will be presented at the stands by beneficiaries, who will share with you their experiences with preparation of LIFE project proposals, with obtaining EU funds as well as with project implementation. There will be an opportunity to exchange opinions and ask questions. Although Slovenia has so far stood out for the quality of its projects, we are still behind the most EU member states in the number of applied projects. With the aim to encourage as many potential applicants as possible to apply for LIFE grants, Ministry has prepared a capacity building project and obtained LIFE funding. This enabled the employment of six new employees, who will in the following two years disseminate information, promote LIFE funds and support cooperation among the candidates for obtaining co-financing for the projects that meet the criteria of the EU LIFE programme.
The event is open to the general public. It will take place in front of the Slovenian Forestry Institute. In case of rain the event will take place in the hall of the Slovenian Forestry Institute.
