Company Arhel d. o. o. organizes in collaboration with the National Institute of Biology and Municipality Bled a closure conference of the project LIFE Stop CyanoBloom entitled Freshwater bodies: monitoring and methods for cyanobacterial bloom control. The conference will take place on 1st and 2nd December 2016 at Arhel’s bussiness unit (Tržaška 330, Ljubljana).

Closure conference is one of the last activities of a three and a half year-long project LIFE Stop CyanoBloom – Innovative technology for cyanobacterial bloom control, ending on 31st December 2016. In the frame of the project, they demonstrated for the first time in Slovenia a performance of a high-tech solution on two natural freshwater bodies in Slovenia. The innovative technology is based on a scientific finding that the cyanobacterial viruses carry out the main control over the density of the cyanobacterial population. They are causing lysis or degradation of cyanobacterial cells. However, they need a certain trigger from the environment for their activation and proliferation in the cell. Such a trigger can be an electrochemical activation used in the project. Their results will be presented at closure conference, which is free of charge for the participants. Warmely invited all interested institutions and individuals to join the conference with a lecture, poster or as audience. Student contributions are also appreciated.
