European Commission in cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning is organizing a workshop “Strengthening investments in the Natura 2000 network through EU funds and preparing the Prioritized Action Framework (PAF)”. The workshop will take place on January 16, 2019 in Ljubljana.

In 2017, the European Commission adopted the Action Plan for nature, people and the economy, aiming at achieving effective implementation of the nature directives, including socio-economic objectives, and promoting cooperation with authorities at national and local level, stakeholders and the general public.

Priority C of the Action Plan refers to “strengthening investments in Natura 2000 and improving synergies with EU funding instruments”. Since one of the objectives of Action 8 within this priority is to help Member States to improve their multi-annual financial planning for Natura 2000 through the update of their Prioritised Action Frameworks (PAFs), the European Commission, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, organizes a workshop on the topic of priority actions in the field of nature protection and their financing, especially within the Natura 2000 network.

At the workshop the experience of the implementation of the directives on nature in Slovenia will be presented, along with the contribution of the LIFE programme to the conservation of Natura 2000 sites in Slovenia, and prioritized nature protection actions for the period 2021-2027 will be identified.

The workshop will be held on January 16, 2019 with the beginning at 9 am in the large meeting room of the Slovenian Environment Agency (Vojkova 1b, Ljubljana; the meeting room is located on the 4th floor). The event will be held in the Slovene language, the representative of the European Commission will speak in Croatian.

More information and the event programme are available in the invitation (in Slovene). Warmly invited!
