LIFE Capacity Building Slovenia project team from the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning organized two LIFE informative days on 13th and 14th December 2017 in Rimske Toplice and Portorož respectively. The event was intended for anyone looking for co-financing for environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects. Representatives of national LIFE contact points presented information on how to obtain grants to address specific environmental problems, what does LIFE mean in practice and what are the steps for applying for LIFE co-financing. In Rimske Toplice, participants were also welcomed by the Director General of the Directorate for the Environment, mag. Tanja Bolte.
A large part of the event was devoted to practical examples. Thus, participants can easily understand what kind of solutions are co-financed by the LIFE programme. Practical experience has been shared by beneficiaries of the already successful Slovenian LIFE projects: LIFE ReSoil – dr. Neža Finžgar, LIFE NATURAVIVA – Marjana Hönigsfeld Adamič, ECOLEX LIFE – Zlata Tavčar and Matej Klepec, LIFEGENMON – dr. Hojka Kraigher in LIFE ARTEMIS – dr. Marteen van der Groot. LIFE team backed up then the practical experiences with a presentation of the contribution of LIFE projects in Slovenia and a practical exercise, where participants checked in groups which ideas, activities and results are eligible for LIFE funding and which environmental problem could be addressed as such. The event ended with bilateral meetings where the participants had the opportunity to discuss their ideas with LIFE team.
The LIFE Information Day was an introduction and preparation for a number of future workshops and events that will take place in 2018 – writer’s workshops, detailed workshops, a workshop on European Financial Funds and a LIFE International Conference.
