The LIFE AlgaeCan and H2020 Water2REturn project teams invite you to a mini symposium titled “Algae in circular economy”, which will take place at the Biotechnical Faculty, Department of Agronomy, on June 7, 2018, starting at 9 am. In the framework of the symposium, a small demo centre will be officially opened, where the use of algae in cleaning technologies and the agro-food industry will be demonstrated. Warmly invited!

At the seminar you will learn about innovative solutions for the circular economy in agro-food processing, algae technologies and biostimulants and innovative fertilizers. You will have opportunity to share your opinions and suggestions. During the symposium the participants will visit the demo centre at the Biotechnical Faculty, dedicated to the development of algae cleaning technologies, the production of algae biomass and the testing of produced biostimulants and fertilizers for use in agronomy. The event is organized by Algen and the Department of Agronomy at the Biotechnical Faculty. It is primarily intended for representatives of waste water treatment companies and the food processing industry, farmers, manufacturers of animal feed and fertilizers and their users.

The LIFE AlgaeCan project – Adding sustainability to the fruit and vegetable processing industry through solar-powered algal wastewater treatment (2017-2020) is managed by the Spanish company CARTIF with partners Algen and Vipi (Slovenia), Huercasa (Spain) and NTUA (Greece). The project is financed by the EU financial mechanism LIFE, LIFE 16 / ENV / ES / 000180 financial instrument.

The W2R project – REcovery and REcycling of nutrients TURNing wasteWATER into added-value products for a circular economy in agriculture (2017-2020) is managed by the Spanish company Bioazul with 14 partners from eight countries. From Slovenia participate in Algen and the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana participate in the project, by the financial program H2020, grant agreement 730398.
