On 28 April 2017, the European Commission published the 2017 LIFE Call for project proposals for traditional, preparatory, integrated and technical assistance projects from both LIFE sub-programmes; for Environment and Climate Action. The total grant budget for this year’s call is over € 373 million, of which more than € 290 million is for sub-programme for Environment and € 82 million sub-programme for Climate Action. At least 55% of the budget for actions under the LIFE Environment sub-programme is reserved for nature conservation and biodiversity conservation projects.

Although there are no major changes in the content of the application package compared to last year’s call, it is recommended that the applicants review it. The novelties are summarized in the guidelines for the applicants from each priority area, and will be shortly summarized also on our website (in Slovene). Among others, the European Commission has expressed special interest in this year’s call for the so-called close-to-market projects that can be developed in the priority area Environment and Resource Efficiency and the LIFE Climate Action sub-programme. These are projects that propose new solutions with clear environmental and / or climatic benefits and with such a level of technical and business readiness (TBR), ready for implementation on the market.

The application packages are available on the website of LIFE programme. In the coming weeks, an updated Slovene translation of the documentation will also be available on this website. The Commission announces that the LIFE Grant Agreement with general terms will be published in the coming weeks.

Deadlines for applying for traditional LIFE projects are:

7.9.2017 for priority areas of LIFE sub-programme for Climate Action (Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Climate Change Mitigtion (CCM) in Climate governance and Information (GIC)),
12.9.2017 for priority area Environment and Resorce Efficiency (ENV)
